The Need to Show Off How Smart You Are

Shane Parrish writes in his Brain Food weekly newsletter:

One of the worst qualities a person can have is the need to show how smart they are by catching others’ mistakes. In some areas, this may be useful, but in general life, it’s a disaster.

In some organizations with mediocre leaders, this behavior may even be encouraged.

If you are a leader—and we all are in some sense—remember that knowing the people on your team and their work is your responsibility. Often, the show-offs are not your best assets.
